Tamara Wintzell
Having earned numerous accolades over the years, including Baldwin County Businessperson of the Year, Tamara Wintzell has built a reputation that extends far beyond the restaurant industry. Known for her infectious work-hard, play-hard attitude, Tamara inspires everyone around her with her energy, generosity, and entrepreneurial spirit. Tamara has never forgotten those who helped her along the way. Fairhope City Councilman Jack Burrell recalls that what stood out most during one of her many award-winning evenings was that “every time Tamara accepted an award, she gave credit to her staff.”
Tamara’s love of food, hospitality, and entrepreneurship began early, influenced by her Puerto Rican heritage and her mother’s passion for cooking. By age seven, she was already selling fruit, lemonade, and homemade cookies. After arriving in Mobile in 1984, she built a successful restaurant career before a visit to Fairhope changed her life. Over the years, she has owned, operated, or sold more than 17 restaurants and venues, with Tamara’s Downtown remaining one of Fairhope’s most beloved dining destinations.
