Karen Philpott

Karen, a native of Tennessee, now resides in Fairhope, Alabama. She is a Signature Member of the American Impressionist Society, a member of the Plein Air Painters of the Southeast and the Oil Painters of America, and a past president of the Chestnut Group. Karen’s work has received numerous national awards. She defines her style as Modern Impressionist, influenced by historical Impressionist masters and contemporary American Plein Air artists. She often begins her process painting en plein air before transitioning to her studio to create larger works. Capturing the natural landscape is her primary focus, as she strives to convey the atmosphere, light, and seasonal impressions of nature through her oil paintings.
